Run for the hills!

Last night, I met Kim in the suburbs for a hill run. We've been talking about doing this for weeks, and I've been looking forward to/dreading this for weeks.

We did an eight-mile loop starting and ending at Barrington High School, which thankfully, had port-o-potties on the grounds. It took us 1:17 for the run, an average pace of 9:39.

We were sweaty, but going out for dinner goes well with hills. We went to Chowpatti, which is a vegan/vegetarian place specializing in Indian food (but they also had Mexican food options).

Everything there was awesome. I order masala dosa, which was a savory crepe-type thing stuffed with spiced vegetables and spinach.  We got a vegan cinnamon roll to split at the end, and it was awesome.  I will run for desserts.

This morning has also been busy. We went to Aldi, which is packed with pumpkin, apple and cinnamon special buys. I almost didn't know where to look first: sparkling pumpkin ale, pumpkin bread, cinnamon bread, pumpkin ravioli, white chocolate pumpkin bark, pumpkin spice marshmallows, pumpkin spice milk, powdered pumpkin creamer, apple butter, apple cider mix ... I was in heaven. And I spent too much.

But that didn't stop us from going out for lunch. We had a great coupon to use at Maggiano's in Schaumburg.  Unfortunately, it wasn't what we remembered. The bread wasn't that great, the olive oil was of a poor quality, the plates they left on our table for the bread were dirty and the entrees were gross.  Tim's fettucini alfredo was served with the nastiest "sauce" I've ever seen. It was like a pool of heavy cream - it wasn't thickened at all and looked more like soup than sauce. Gross.
What is this?
My final mission of the day was getting a haircut.  I haven't gotten a haircut in at least a year.  Beauty gods, I have sinned. And I don't care.  It's not the cost of haircuts or the time it takes, I just don't see the point. I basically get the same haircut every time and never look all that different.  Here's the new 'do:
