Win it Wednesday: Bestowed Box

Hi friends! I'm obviously not having the best week ever, but goodies in the mail always perk me up. There's something exciting about getting a box full of surprises that brings me back to when my mom used to make me care packages when I was in college. It really brightened my day to get a mailer full of random items from home.

I received a Bestowed box to review and one lucky reader will receive one, too! There are so many monthly subscription services out there now it's hard to keep them all straight. What I love about Bestowed is that for $19 a month, you receive at least five product samples that are hand-selected by nutritionist Heather Bauer. I'm attracted to this concept because there are entire stores out there now stuffed with "natural," "organic," "healthy" foods that are completely unregulated. Like, what does all that stuff really mean? You can buy organic oreos and all-natural gummy bears, but I'm not sure if these are smart choices. Let me outsource that to someone else.

Another cool aspect of this service is that the box comes with an explanation about why each item was chosen, as well as tips for how to use the items or best enjoy the snacks. This box contained fig bars, which the insert suggesting heating up in the microwave and serving with yogurt or berries as a dessert. Don't mind if I do.

Past boxes have included snack bars, desserts, treats, energy supplements and the like. Here's what's in the May box:

I thought it was a pretty eclectic selection of items that I wouldn't normally purchase. I appreciate that this type of service exposes you to items that could become new favorites. Much like my comments about Wine Riot, it's too easy to get stuck in a rut of buying the same things over and over again. This breaks the cycle.

I already love the granola and look forward to trying the Hemp Hearts.  And my love of Bestowed was cemented with that little chocolate bar. Value wise, there's more than $19 worth of stuff in the box, because I know the granola alone is worth $7 (it's Tim's favorite brand), and there's a $25 gift card in there for iTrain.

If you want to try Bestowed, enter below to snag your own box! Or, get $5 off your first box using discount code - 5OFFBSTOWED02.

This contest will conclude at midnight May 16 and I will announce a winner here after that.  Good luck!

I've never lived far enough from my parents for them to send a care package.

I've gotten lots of care packages from not only my parents, but many of my other family members as well - in college, while at the Army School of Music for advanced training after basic training, while stationed in Korea, and during my deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq! My parents send packages several times a year for me and my 2 boys no matter where the Army sends me!

My mom definitely sent me fun things in college and still sends me the occasional Valentine's Day or Halloween goody. She figures that if she sends things to her grandkids she should still send something for me to enjoy even if I don't have kids!

I got care packages in college...which was funny considering that I went to school 20 minutes from my hometown! Mine were extra special because they were delivered in person instead of the mail :-)

Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I love all "real" mail and packages!!! (Usually all I ever get are credit card solicitations, advertisements, and bills.) I would love to come home to a nice welcoming package of goodies on a regular basis. =)

My parents sent me a huge care package/birthday present when I studied abroad in Ghana that mainly included lots of dark chocolate bars for me and Easy Mac for my friends!

I lived at home through University, so I never received care packages. BUT if I lived away from home, I'm sure I would have gotten all sorts of goodies.

I went to college about 8 hours away from home. And yes, my mom DID send care packages! It's been a long time, haven't thought about that in a while :)

No my parents never did. I have always been the outcast of my family so it wasn't too much of a surprise.

I'm glad to hear that you like the granola. I haven't tried the KIND granola but I'm a huge fan of the KIND bars, so I've been wanting to branch out and try their other products. My parents never did send me care packages--sad face. But, my dad did give me some extra money to buy pizza and snacks and things around finals in college and other stressful times, so that's about the same thing. :)

No they never did, but I didnt really care anyways.

Oooh, that box looks fantastic. Sorry you're having a bad week and hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel quickly! Hang in there.

I loved care packages! I didn't get a ton as I didn't spend tons of time at camp. My favorite care package memory was when my parents dropped off at my college a box on Dec 6.

Dec 6 is St. Nicholas Day, and in our family the tradition was that you'd get one of your shoes with an orange and some candies stuffed in it.

So my freshman year of college I get a shoe with stuffed with an orange & some candies! Made my day!

When my folks dropped me off at school, in Tennessee, my Mom left a big box and inside were at bunch of smaller boxes. One for each day of my first 2 weeks. They were little things...a book of stamps, cute pens, stationary, rolls of quarters for laundry, socks...and each had a sweet note from Mom and Pop. It really made a difference. Then once a month or so after I'd get a care package with little home comforts. I loved it!

My mom used to send me care packages in college. It usually contained a few pieces of fruit and some good chocolate. I still wished she would send me those packages. Instead I just go home and steal her food.
