Why You Should Sign Up for the Run for Boston 5K

You may have noticed I've been a bit busy in the past few weeks, and that's because I've been busting my booty to organize the Run for Boston 5k, which is June 15 in Independence Grove. Hosted by the Chicago Running Bloggers and Muddy Monk, the race can host up to 400 runners, and we still have slots available. If you're free in 12 days, I'd love it if you could join me for a fun race for a great cause. Here's why you should register now:

Great cause: We are fully funded by sponsors. This means that 100 percent of the fees runners pay benefit Who Says I Can't, an awesome foundation improving the quality of life of amputees. As a result of the Boston Marathon bombings, at least 14 people received amputations. They need the support of the running community to get back to running.

Final product
Swag for every runner: The packet for this race is pretty epic. Myself and a bunch of other volunteers spent time assembling them over the weekend, and we still have more goodies in the pipeline. Additionally, runners will get a shirt and water bottle.

Winner baskets
Super swag for winners: Thanks to 1-800 Baskets and Wildberry, our winners are going to get spoiled. I've never seen a race that gives gift baskets to its winner, so I'm happy to be the first!

Community: Running is about so much more than miles, paces and PRs. It's about being part of community of people who understand what it's like to test limits. We want to show the world that the Boston Marathon bombings will not defeat us. We will overcome this challenge just like every other obstacle we encounter as we hit the pavement. Just look at all the "what running means to me" blog posts from all over the Internet to get an inkling of what we're all about.

Value: Pay $30, which goes right to charity, and you'll get a fun race, a cool after party and lots of swag. You can barely park in the city for a race for that price.

Register now for the Run for Boston 5k on June 15 in Libertyville. A virtual race is also available so you can show your support.
