Three Things Thursday

1. The government shut down means I'm not racing the long course at 3 Disciplines' Last Chance Tri in Benton on Saturday. I'm OK with this just because I wasn't in it mentally. My knee is sore from the physical therapy and I've already checked out for the season. I'm not really satisfied with how the company is handling it, though. We don't get a refund, or even a general discount. We get the privilege of signing up for next year's race for $45, but only if we do so in the next five days. I get that they're out of the money they've already put forth, but would it kill them to give us a discount to use on any of their events? It just means I'm going to get a $35 sweatshirt in the mail for an event that didn't happen.
Nope.
2. Roti opened up near my work and I entered their grand-opening contest. I won a month of free lunches, which I intend to take full advantage of. I get a different item every day and plan to eat my way through every possible combo.

3. I'm getting ready for my first showing at the Chicago Food Swap. It's a barter-fueled bake sale where local foodies get together to showcase and swap their goods. I'm bringing kombucha and two kombucha starters, and I hope people will want to trade with me. If not, I love my kombucha anyways.

I am so happy you won free food! I would have talked much worse about your experience regarding the Tri..but not everyone has the class you do. ;)

I'll take a kombucha starter! :)

Bummer about the tri this weekend… some sort of discount would be nice!

Ugh, sorry about the triathlon! It's frustrating when things are canceled, because of reasons out of anyone's control, and the race doesn't handle it well.

If you need a kombucha starter, I'm your gal! E-mail me and I'd be happy to hook you up.

Ugh about the race. When you sign up for a race it usually says something to the effect of "if we have to cancel, you are out your money". And they are a company doing this so they shouldn't be forced to take the whole financial burden, but I feel like the should have given you a much better discount than that. And that whole for 4 days only thing is a joke.
