When runs aren't fun

So today's run was totally disappointing. It was a tempo run, which was supposed to be a two-mile warm up, three miles at a faster pace than my marathon pace and a two-mile cool down,

I'm going to go ahead and say today sucked because I got a flu shot yesterday and my body is busy waging war for dominance, but I can't say that for sure. Either way, this is what I picture is going on inside my body today:
Rawr! Anywho, I laced up today and headed to my favorite one-mile loop. The weather was perfect: drizzly and 50, just like in Seattle, which made me happy as a clam.
However, even the warm up was hard. I might have been a touch overdressed, but I felt like I was huffing and puffing way too early in the workout.
I eventually had to stop during the tempo phase to catch my breath and shed some layers. I finished the whole thing with an overall pace of 8:49 for six miles, but that doesn't include my gasping for breath break.
I'm going to try and forget the misfortune of today's run and chalk it up to the flu shot. Yep, it was definitely the flu shot.

In the meantime, did you know today is National Cookie Day? I must insist celebrating with my famous chocolate chip cookie recipe. It will change your life.
