Confessions of an Insomniac Runner

So full disclosure: If you follow me on instagram, you know I have an issue with sleeping through the night. I've had insomnia since I was high school and it's recently escalated by a ton. I'm fairly certain I've trained more hours than I've slept lately, so here are a few confessions about my late-night antics.

I am thoroughly convinced as a runner and a human that I will die without a banana every day.
Napoleon agrees. He gets a slice out of every banana I consume.

But maybe I should consider eating two. One of the things that's waking me up in the middle of the night is being hungry. All. The. Time. Damn you, Ironman training. Gimme all the foods, please.
Maybe I should change up my 1 a.m. snack routine to include these guys. Because we have our house on the market, the agent suggested we bake cookies before each showing to make the house smell more homey. However, the ratio of showings to Best Chocolate Chip Cookies ever consumed is a bit ... skewed.

Another thing to consider when having your house on the market is the need to constantly appear like model adults. I'm doing laundry at least twice as much as usual with all the running clothes and double training days.
It probably would help if I could ever muster the desire to iron. There are items in my closet that are basically lost because I don't want to iron. Ever.

On the topic of laundry, my most-hated household task is matching socks. I would rather scrub every surface in the bathroom than match socks. Ick.
This is a problem, because I can't sleep without socks, regardless of the climate or time of year.

Here's hoping I can sleep better tonight than last, because the 1 a.m. laundry, cleaning and blogging routine is getting old.

Good job posting at 1:30 am! I agree on some of these although I am usually a strong sleeper:
Socks when you sleep
Not folding/ironing as much as possible. I have a special basket for my regular workout gear that does not get folded. I'm putting it on again in 48 hrs, so why?

I have horrible insomnia, I am currently using Pandora to listen to and I am listening to all of the lyrics and it takes what is really stressing me out of my mind and I tend to fall back to sleep..not always, but currently my best bet
