An Iowa Weekend Recap

What a whirlwind weekend! First, I hosted my first friendsgiving for my sisters and friends. It was awesome - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, butter rolls, pumpkin pie and plenty, plenty of drinks. So much so that I forgot to take photos of my breathtaking culinary masterpieces. This is what I felt compelled to capture instead:

Anyhow, after we wrapped up the beverage and puppy dancing portion of our day, Katie and I headed to Iowa Friday for Alyssa's rehearsal dinner. Not before we stopped at Matt's family farm to try a little shooting. When we rolled up, Katie said, I play video games, I've got this. We scoffed. She obliterated the target on the first go. I instead got bruised and hit nothing.

Saturday morning started realllly early with hair, makeup and mimosas. I regret nothing.

Before I knew it, the big day was well underway. Alyssa was a beautiful bride (who I made put on our Ironman jacket over her gown for a photo because we're Ironman finishers!). We took a party bus from Cascade to Dubuque and stopped for photos and more drinks.

My sister was an excellent date through hours of eating, drinking and dancing. She even treated me to breakfast in downtown Dubuque the next day.

Of course, no trip is complete for this kid without getting a pressed penny. The only machine in Dubuque just happened to be steps from our hotel, so I snagged one before making the journey.
How was everyone's long weekends? Get any good deals?

I've accompanied my husband and FiL to the gun range all of once (considering we own a gun, I really should go more), and got to shoot some rifles as well as a handgun. It was quite an experience, and I can see how you would end up bruised! I found that I'm better with rifles than handguns. Anywho, you ladies look lovely!

I need to play more video games. Obviously.

Katie was a great date. It looks like she really enjoyed herself so I am happy :)

Matt promised that we can go to the gun range and shoot the new pistol.

When we were driving back this week, Matt was like, I can't believe we forgot to take Kelly and Katie down to the farm. So you will have to come back so you can see the steers! And the real "barn" a.k.a. machine shed.

I didn't know there was a real farm back there ... I'm not sure what I thought was back there. Cute cows?
