Cooking with Kelly: 3-Ingredient Supreme Protein Apple Crisp Recipe

healthy dessert A few months ago (I'm embarrassed to admit how long I've let this poster fester), Supreme Protein asked me to create a recipe using their new Accelerate Morning Protein Bars. I'm always on the hunt for fast, delicious snacks that are high in protein, which my muscles need for recovery as I'm ramping up my training. My normal dilemma with protein bars is that they either taste like a pink eraser or they have the same nutritional profile of a Snickers bar at twice the price. This bar is a nice middle ground. The calories are low, the nutrition value is respectable and the flavors are great. It's also designed to help boost your metabolism and keep you full, both of which I'm all for.

When I set out to make my recipe, I wanted to go with something simple, sort of healthy and super fast. This three-ingredient apple crisp comes together in less than five minutes. It's also as tasty as a normal dessert without any of the guilt. Because the bar has a caramel top, it's an ooey gooey dessert that is deceptively healthy. This is all you need:

And the method ...

healthy dessertSupreme Protein Apple Crisp
1/2 small apple
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Supreme Protein Apple Cinnamon bar

Chop the apple and coat in cinnamon, the microwave for one minute. While that cooks, butterfly the bar, removing the top and bottom. Cut each in half, then flatten with a rolling pin, forming into rough circles.

Place the cooked apples in between the two layers, then microwave again for 10 seconds. Bam, dessert is served.
