What I've Been Watching

As part of the set up of the new pain cave, I've installed a television in front of my treadmill, and I still use my Kindle when I ride on the training. As I've logged nearly 175 running miles and at least as many biking this year, I've been watching a lot of television. Impressive, since until recently, I didn't even own a single television. This fall, I upgraded to a super nice SmartTV and decided I don't need cable, because I have Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Go.

Roswell - Ah, let me relive the angst of my youth. And Colin Hanks and Katherine Heigl are in it!
X-Files - Another classic that haunted my dreams as a kid. So good. So classic.
New Girl - It's a quick, easy watch with a light, predictable plot. Everyone can find parts of themselves in Jess because she's every awkward moment you've ever had.
Black Mirror - Totally underrated and a damn shame there's only six episodes. It's a bit like a British version of The Twilight Zone with a different plot and actors each episode. What I love about this show is that the scenarios are at the edge of what's possible and feasible, making you wonder about humanity and society.

House of Cards - Because duh, this is the greatest show ever. All the hype is worth it. I can't wait for the third season to be released this month ... I smell a binge watch coming on.

Spinning Plates - This is a great documentary following three restaurants - the oldest in Iowa, a Mexican place in Tucson and Alinea in Chicago. The stories are heartwarming and heartbreaking, and it's a great watch.

What should I watch next?

BROAD CITY!!!! It's a Comedy Central series, like Workaholics meets Girls. No idea if it's on Netflix or Hulu or whatever. We have free cable so I have it set to record any new episodes. Although apparently it was a web series first so maybe those are still online. But it's freaking hilarious and feminist and I love it.

Orange is the New Black? Homeland? The Wire?

You have a sweet pain cave! My pain-cave is at the gym, which kind of sucks sometimes. But if I had one at home, i'd do the same, do my workouts to good TV.

Love, love "House of Cards". Currently I am watching "Hot in Cleveland". Pretty funny show. I think next I will watch "Parenthood" since I've heard so many good things about it.
