My Bike Tire Saga

Edit: I accidentally deleted the photos linked to this post. I'm working on fixing it.

Alternative title: A wasted Sunday.

After my disappointing 10K yesterday (disappointed with my lack of official time, not disappointed by my time), Tim and I took a short bike ride in the evening. It ended with my first flat tire. Much like my first bike accident, I knew it was only a matter of time before this happened.

First thing this morning, I watched a YouTube video and thought "I've got this." I set up a little tire change station in the living room and got the tire off without any issue. I felt empowered. Then, I realized the two tubes the woman I bought the bike from were too big.

So off I went to WalMart. The tube I bought there was too big, too.

So off I went to a bike shop.

When I got home, I'd been at it long enough that I needed to take a lunch break.

After lunch, I could not get the damn tire on. There was cursing and tears of frustration. I finally asked Tim to help me (I wanted to do it by myself. If I'm going to be an Ironman, I need to learn this crap). When he couldn't get it back on either, I threw the damn thing in the car and went to a different bike shop and just paid the $14 to have the shop put it on. So all in all, I wasted half my Sunday and at least $20 in supplies and gas.

Just as big of a fail as yesterday's Cosley Zoo 10K.

Now we're off to a wedding, which I'm sure will be far more awesome.
