Kelly the Culinarian: Strangest Athletic Injury?

Strangest Athletic Injury?

So this isn't really a running injury like a torn ligament or plantar faciitis, but I did get a fun new injury I didn't anticipate at CrossFit. That thing on my collarbone is not a shadow (or a hickey, because I'm sure someone will ask), but a giant spreading bruise from this morning's workout.  It included using a weighted bar in an overhead position, leaving my poor little collarbone square in the path of gravity.

So what has been your strangest athletic injury?
In not-even-closely related news, I registered for my first big goal race of 2013: The Egg Shell Shuffle Half Marathon at the end of March. I'm itching for a PR!

I did the Egg Shell Shuffle this year... it was a lot of fun! Fast and flat, I ran my 2nd fastest time ever, so you can definitely go get that PR!

The eggshell looks like a fun one! I've slowly started my research for next year's crazy run fun...

I think I want to do the Egg Shell Shuffle just for that adorable medal! But in all seriousness, I love the idea of a close, small location for my first half marathon of the year...I think I may register!

The coupon code CYBERMONDAY is good through today for $5 off. Can't beat a $48 half that includes a medal and shorts!

CrossFit is good for some crazy strange injuries for sure!

Although, the weirdest one I've ever gotten was while doing PT exercises for a different injury. I was doing side steps with a resistance band around my ankles and the band rubbed the back of my ankle raw. I still have a scar!

I once pulled a muscle in my wrist from aggressively stirring cake batter.

True story.

I still need to find a spring marathon...#fwp

I sprained my wrist playing soccer. Yes, a sport where you don't even use your hands (well, unless you are the goalie or doing throw-ins, which I often did). Another player was pretty close to me, and kicked the ball directly into my wrist. HURT LIKE HELL. I even got it x-rayed because I was worried it was broken or something.

That egg medal is so cute!

I get bruises quite often in my strength class, especially when we use kettlebells (I am always swinging them in to myself! oops!).
