You see what I did there?
We had a Groupon to use at Nova Bar and Grill in Addison. We've lived near this place for years and have never been inside as we're not really bar-goers anymore. Here's my first gripe: their Web site automatically starts playing tired house/techno music. Yawn.
So this place is in a not-great location next to a closed Taco Bell (makes my heart sad) and some other generic business on Lake Street. Inside, however, the decor is really nice and chic. The menu is small, taking up a single sheet of paper. Our Groupon was for an appetizer and two sandwiches. We went with the Nova Munching Plate, which comes with potato skins, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, jalapeno poppers, chicken tenders and chicken wings. The chicken wings were way too spicy for me, and the jalapeno poppers were cold. I liked the onion rings, which were very crispy and would have been great with a spicy mustard.
I went with a standard cheeseburger, cooked medium with cheddar. Tim got the Inferno Burger, which had all kinds of spicy accouterments. The burgers weren't quite medium, but the dim lights prevented me from seeing it until Tim told me later. The fries were the star of this meal -- they were super crispy, a little spicy and the perfect amount of salt. We both liked our burgers ... at the time. They were flavorful, juicy and filling. Far too filling. We both felt fat leaving the restaurant, but we felt worse this morning.
Bottom line, the food was OK, but it was out for revenge this morning. If you're looking for a nightclub in Addison (for some reason), this place could be it. If you want something to eat, try somewhere else.
