It's been a crazy two days. I covered more than 50 miles on foot, bike and by water! Saturday started at 4 a.m. with a
15-mile run to train for the
Fox Valley Marathon. I got up super early to try and beat the heat. It's been well into the 100s this week, and it turned out to be a solid strategy. Last week,
my 14-mile run was just plain terrible. While I wasn't fast Saturday (overall pace of 10:35), I got it done, which was gratifying.

Afterwards, I celebrated a successful run by stopping at Taco Bell to try the new
cantina menu. I enjoyed the cantina tacos when they offered them a few years ago and thought this would be similar.
Taco Bell is trying to be classier and offer fresh options like Chipotle does. I had a buy one, get one free coupon, so what the hell. I went with the veggie burrito bowl.
My verdict? Not enough veggies and too much sauce/guacamole type stuff. I scraped off the guacamole and it was a little better. It needed more lettuce and tomato.
That evening, MacKenna and I met up at Skokie Lagoon to cash in a Groupon. We went on a two-hour kayaking adventure that was a ton of fun. The water was very warm and it was a decent workout.

Then, we met up again this morning and set out for a ride with Jenny. We're preparing for the Illinois Venus de Miles, a 60-mile bike ride at the end of the month. We biked the eastern half of the long course, which great. It was mostly flat with smooth pavement and very few cars. We even crashed a triathlon at one point near Lake Zurich.

I love kayaking! Did you do single kayaks or two-person? I want to try a river some day. Right now I've just been at the Independence Grove lake.
So happy you run was better this week!!!
