Erin came by to help me with some clothing dilemmas. I read on Kim's blog that she helped her out with putting together some outfits. And she is really good at what she does. Erin started with asking me to pull out a few items that I don't know what to do with or only wear in one way. Then, she showed me a few different ways I could wear the stuff and offered advice along the way.
I ended up with at least a week of new outfits and a ton of tips and tricks that I'm looking forward to implementing. It's great to have someone else look at my clothes, too, because it gave me a new perspective on different ways to wear the stuff I already have.
Here are some of Erin's style tips:
- To wear prints without looking like a billboard, pair the print with a cardigan or blazer.
- For a polished look, follow the rule of three: wear a skirt, top and cardigan; pants, sweater and button down; or dress, statement earrings and scarf.
- Don't be afraid to mix prints. Look for some unifying element, like a common color, color family or accent.
- Scarves and belts are hot. Use them wisely to accent an outfit, bring attention away from your hips and to your waist and create a figure.
- If you have dark hair, like Erin and I, dark shoes tend to balance out your outfit because it serves as a bookend to your hair color.

Pretty sure scarves are my favorite thing. My closet is starting to look like a gypsy is squatting here.
I had so much fun, too! And you must have a great memory (or secretly been taking notes) because I love that you included the style tips in this post.
So, we doing this again when it's time to break out the spring/summer stuff??
What do you think about late May? Maybe this time we can do brunch. It makes drinking before noon acceptable and will give me a chance to make a fruit gallete or crock pot French toast casserole. Maybe Kim can make it out next time, too.
Great tips! I love the rule of three, I'll have to remember that!
Drinking before noon and French toast casserole? Late May sounds perfect :-)
I love the top with the gold in it! I like the tips too. I never thought about the dark shoes with dark hair thing. Interesting!
I am happy Erin was able to help you out!!! :)
